Baldwin Locomotive Works 2-4-4-2 Skookum ran on the Niles Canyon Railway May 1, 2021. I didn't know much about Skookum except that it is rare.

The research for this gallery was quite interesting. It's the only 2-4-4-2 running, and only three were built. Skookum was built for an Appalachian logging railroad in 1909, but proved to big and heavy for the line, so it was off to Oregon and several owners over the years. Skookum derailed in 1955, and didn't run again until 2019!
